Using Top Keywords

By Chris Mills

In order to write a blog post you have to use words. But just because you use words doesn't mean you are using all the right words. To be found by the search engines you need to use top keywords that are relevant to your subject or niche. Make sure the keywords you choose, are keywords people would use to search the web. This is important because you want to get targeted traffic to your site and you can only do that if you use words that normal people would use in their search.

So let's say you have a niche blog that deals with swimming pools. You would not flood your site with words not related to pools, like cars. But rather you would choose a few keywords that deal directly with the subject of swimming pools, such as, pools, swimming, in-ground, above ground, chlorine, etc.

It is important that you do not use the same keyword(s) over and over again. The reason why is because it may be viewed as spam and you could actually get banned. So try to use your top keywords only 3 or 4 times. Use your keyword(s) in your title, your opening paragraph, once more somewhere in your post, and finally in your last paragraph, as an example.

But now, just because you have published a page with your keywords, it doesn't mean you are going to be found right off the bat by the search engines. This can take awhile. To speed the indexing process up, one good way to get your site noticed by the search engines is to submit an article to an article directory, such as GoArticles.com. I have found that if I rewrite the article that I just posted on my site, and then link back to my site via my keywords, it takes no time at all for my site to get picked up. Plus, it lets the search engine know what keywords you want pointing to your site.

There are a lot of other ways to get backlinks to your site, but this is just one popular method that works for me. Keep on blogging and don't forget to use top keywords on your sites.
